Open letter to the owners, mods, etc. of the old busted thing.

Dear tribe.net mods and owners: You have consistenly ignored the massive resistance to the changes you have made. Almost no one likes it. It's inefficient, unattractive, and miserable to use. Yet, despite the biggest backlash I've seen since Bush was appointed, you plod on as if everything is just fine.
It used to be a wonderful grassroots online community. Sure, every community has it's trolls and bad apples, but for the most part it was a place for all the freaks, burners, hippies, punks, goths, yippies, vegans, omnivores, activists, and everyone else to gather and share openly, freely, and comfortably. Now it's has become MySpace.
Several people, including myself, bit our tongues and offered very reasonable suggestions for how to make it work for both you and us. That there is even a "you" and "us" is a problem in itself. It should have stayed "we".
You ignored every constructive suggestion, and I believe you are only shooting yourself in the foot.
Please rethink your actions, lest you lose everyone that made tribe.net worth visiting.

And since you won't, we're moving on.

Anyone, (including you Elliot!) who wants to join goto:

  • Best of luck to Omnithoughts -- I checked out the site this morning and I'll be interested to see how it shapes up.

Over here, we've got lots of changes coming down the pipe this week (and next), so stay tuned.
    • Jesus Christ, Elliot, you must be the most positive person on god's green earth. I totally give you propr for not mail bombing every member of tribe, or at leastthe members of the new look tribe.

For what it's worth, I like the new changes and think everyone's being big babies about it. I mean, sure, there are some bumps to work out, but it's cool.
      • Elliot my hat is off to you for being willing to take a look at it

I am spending much time over there, I can tell you it is still quite rudimentary and has bugs (but then any startup does)

I will stay tuned, albiet with a geat deal of caution. Tribe has gone berzerk with the flagging system stuff is getting flagged right and left I hope something is done to gain control over this. Tribe has lost alot of content as a result.

I had a pic deleted, the message told me if I wanted to appeal the deletion to click a link.

        I did

It took me to a page where my only option was "delete"

Hopefully that is a bug that will be fixed?

myspacers dont even like tribe, and now i like myspace better for some reason!! this layout is garbage
        • People fear change, Stevland. I don't see what all the big deal is about. I am mildly entertained by the mayhem, but for the most part wish people would quit their bitching and just quit tribe if they hate it all that much.

But they won't, becaue there are no better free alternatives. So for now, they're just gonna get their bitch on.
          • I could like the changes, I am definately getting used to them. I like the faster loading, I like some of the stuff, including the new placement of the ads(they seem less intrusive to me and don't seem to hold up the threads loading anymore). All of the original things I brought up that bothered me as far as practicle aplications have been addressed to some extent or are on the list(at least they seem to be on Patti's list:o).

I don't really understand why people are freaking out and it is the freaking out that is making me enjoy tribe less not the new interface. I don't think people are being very realistic in their reactions or their expectations that tribe "listen to them" and by that apparently they mean respond to every crappy bitchy whiney thing they come up with to yell about with no specific ideas or helpful input. They are making it harder for reasonable people to get input in and questions about function and possible bugs and stuff. Maybe it's because I have real problems in my life right now but I am to the point of just wanting people to shut up and get a grip.
